The Christmas Tradition with Pines and Needles

The Christmas Tradition with Pines and Needles

Christmas Trees are becoming almost a fashion item now, the most important guest in the home, the centre of all the celebrations and who doesn’t love the smell, look and feel of a REAL Christmas tree.

For many families celebrating Christmas, the day simply wouldn’t be complete without a beautiful Christmas tree sitting in the living room.

You get to enjoy decorating it with the family on the lead-up to Christmas, and of course have the opportunity to put all the families well earned present underneath for Christmas morning (and let’s admit, there’s few more exciting things than waking up on Christmas morning knowing you get to open all your presents!)

We’d probably put this up there as one of the MOST important thing to do for Christmas (just remember not to forget to order Christmas turkey for the family aswell!)

Pines and Needles grow and sell their own Christmas Trees delivered to your door for added festive convenience.

Christmas, as we know it, wasn’t celebrated too much prior to the 1800’s. In fact it was hardly celebrated at all (we don’t even want to imagine it…) however, the change to Christmas as we know it happened, and it happened very quickly!

Many attribute the change to Queen Victoria, it was her marriage to the German-born Prince Albert that introduced some of the most prominent aspects of Christmas that we still have today. In 1848 a drawing of the royal family celebrating around a decorated Christmas tree, was published and before you could say “Santa!” every home in Britain had a tree bedecked with candles, sweets, fruit and homemade decorations! Not to mention all gifts placed beneath! Christmas obviously continued to evolve from here but this is where many of the traditions we know, and love, first started!

We appreciate every side of Christmas here, the contemporary and the classic, the traditional and the mould breaking, to us it’s all just part of what makes Christmas so special. If there’s one thing for certain it’s that you can’t have the present without the past and we are thrilled to be paying a little homage to that past with our Vintage collection.

The tradition is also that of even shopping for your tree, the big family day out to select your own in store! Make Christmas that little bit more special, carry on the tradition and get a REAL Christmas Tree this year from Pines and Needles!
