Four generations of farming, one family tradition

From a Scottish hill farmer arriving in Norfolk during the 1940s to an award-winning free-range poultry business today, the Morton family has spent generations caring for the land, raising livestock and producing food with pride.

Where it all began

The story begins in 1941 when George Morton Snr - affectionately known as "Papa" - left Darvel in Scotland and travelled south to Norfolk to establish a dairy farm. Arriving during wartime, with road signs removed across the country, the journey wasn't easy, but he quickly fell in love with Norfolk's open countryside and fertile farmland.

Our story in motion

A family farm through the generations

  • The start

What began as a small dairy farm would soon become the foundation of the Morton family story. After settling in Norfolk, a dairy herd was established at Whitwell Hall Farm, starting a farming tradition that continues more than four generations later.

  • The growth

As the farm grew, so did the opportunities. More land was acquired, a dairy herd supported by up to 14 farm workers and the business expanded into crops such as broad beans and vining peas, working alongside other local growers.

  • The evolution

By 1998, it was time for a new chapter. With four brothers involved in the family business, diversification became essential and Morton's Traditional Taste was born. What started with free-range geese soon evolved into the award-winning Christmas turkeys we're known for today.

  • Today

Morton's Farm is an award-winning free-range poultry business, proudly supplying customers across the UK while staying true to the values that have guided the farm for generations.

The Morton family today

Today, the farm remains a true family effort. Alongside his three brothers, wife Becca and children George, Sam and Emily, Rob continues the Morton family tradition of farming in Norfolk. Together, they carry forward the values, knowledge and passion passed down through generations.
