Introducing Mr Hugh’s

Mr Hugh’s creates Cold Pressed Extra Virgin rapeseed oil that is grown, harvested and bottled on a family run farm in West-Norfolk. Purchase it here (x) or scroll down to learn more…

Cold pressed rapeseed oil is fast becoming a popular cooking aid in many people’s kitchen throughout the UK and Mr Hugh’s is no different. With Olive Oil prices continuing to rise throughout 2017 in the Southern-Mediterranean due to a prolonged drought and above average temperatures, it only contributes to reasons for the consumer to turn to the locally produced, healthier and much more versatile option of Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil. The health benefits of Mr Hugh’s surpass those of our South Mediterranean competitors, in many more ways than one.

About Mr Hugh’s:

Born into the Mason family, who have farmed in Norfolk for over 200 years, Hugh grew up in Fincham, the farm’s local village and began working at Hall Farm at the age of 20. At the age of 22, Hugh continued the family tradition and took over the running of the farm from his father, Maurice. Our farm now consists of 5,000 acres of land within a 40-mile radius. As well as rapeseed, the farm also grows wheat and sugar beet. Mr Hugh’s started up as a diversification of growing Oilseed Rape on our land, and an educational method to teach the British public that supporting British farming isn’t just good for the economy, but is also wonderfully beneficial for their health & pocket!

We nurture our crops at every stage using a mixture of traditional and modern farming methods. With our understanding of farming, we grow only the healthiest and finest crops. Perfecting the art of farming, as well as identifying what technology can achieve for the benefit of the crop, is something we constantly strive for.

We take great pride in our business, our brand and our products. We do our very best to ensure that we farm in a responsible and sustainable way, in order to safe guard the future of our home and our business.

Why choose Mr Hugh’s?

Aside from Mr Hugh’s being a 100% British product grown locally, the health benefits are just bursting out of the entirety of our product range.

Mr Hugh’s is Cold Pressed:

This means that when we extract the oil from the seeds, there is no heat applied to the extraction method, leaving the crops natural elements, flavour, colour and taste to thrive in the oil. The seed is gently squeezed in an English made press so the oil is released, and is then triple filtered meaning it is of the purest quality. The remaining seed shells and oil, or “cake” as it is known, is made into a nutritious animal feed so our factory works on a no waste status.

Mr Hugh’s has 50% less saturated fat than Olive Oil:

Per 100g of Mr Hugh’s, we contain only 7g of saturated fat, which in contrast to the 14g of saturated fat found in 100ml of Olive Oil, is self-explanatory towards your health benefits. Remember, saturated fats are the bad fats, unsaturated fats are the good fats, and we are packed full of the good ones too

Mr Hugh’s is high in Omega 3 and Omega 6:

Omega 3 and Omega 6 relate nicely back to our previous point of how full of good fats we are. Omega’s 3 & 6 are the essential fatty acids that your body needs, but cannot produce itself and therefore needs to derive it from an external source… this is where we come in! With 9.6g of Omega 3 and 19.7g of Omega 6 per 100g of Mr Hugh’s, your body will get plenty of these desired fats when cooking with us!

Mr Hugh’s has a high smoking point:

In comparison to Olive Oil, Mr Hugh’s is capable of reaching temperatures as high as 240 degrees without burning, Olive Oil however will only reach 180 when it starts to burn. Mr Hugh’s having a higher smoking point means that you will need less of the oil when cooking with it, and our amazing health benefits will remain throughout your cooking experience.

Mr Hugh’s Versatility is second to none…

Due to the vast array of flavoured oils that we have, our versatility is just as vast. One can cook, fry, dip, dress, bake and marinade using nothing but Mr Hugh’s! A popular example is replacing butter and lemon zest in a lemon sponge recipe with Mr Hugh’s Lemon infused oil – it acts as the fat in the cake, haze 0% water content meaning no evaporation occurs in baking leaving your cake moister for longer and the flavour from the lemon oil is truly mouth-watering.
