September is food month and there are numerous events taking place around the country this month, burgers and bangers move over and let fine food month commence. Here in Norfolk we have our very own Norfolk Food & Drink Festival http://www.norfolkfoodfestival.co.uk/ which started with the North Norfolk food festival at Holkham Hall, what a stunning backdrop. We took a pitch at this years show to launch our new range of smoked chicken & duck breast and received some excellent feedback, we also linked up with other small artisan producers such as Brays Cottage http://www.perfectpie.co.uk/ and Sam Steggles from http://www.fieldingcottage.co.uk/.
10th September saw us at the 2012 EDP Food Awards dinner as we were a finalist in the plough to plate champion category. It is great to be nominated and reach the finals stage but this time we were runners up with Norfolk Peer taking the title, however I think I took the title for best carver on the night slicing my way through a bernard matthews “bootiful” turkey joint !
Then only last week we visited The Houses Of Parliament with a group of other like minded Norfolk producers and Anglia Farmers to showcase our products to the MP’s, what an experience, again alot of positive feedback and support from all the Norfolk MP’s especially. I had a good chat with Norman Lamb about how we can promote Norfolk food.
