We are delighted to have won the award for ‘Best Poultry’ in the Great British Food Awards for our free-range cockerel! The Great British Food Awards showcases the finest artisan food and drink from across the UK, and this year’s poultry category was judged by acclaimed chef Asma Khan.
Asma said: ‘the cockerel was incredibly moist with a silk-like texture. Most unusual as I had expected it to be similar to chicken in texture. It was so much better than any poultry that I have had in this country. The skin was really tasty too.’
The Awards are run by Great British Food magazine and this year’s judges included The Hairy Bikers, Booths supermarket, William Sitwell, Olly Smith, Monica Galetti and Michel Roux Jr. Great British Food magazine initially taste-tested every single product entered, awarding scores primarily based around taste but also taking provenance into account. The panel of celebrity experts then tasted the shortlisted products and decided on their winner and runners up.
