Foodie Christmas gifts from Norfolk and Suffolk

Foodie Christmas gifts from Norfolk and Suffolk

We’re busy here at Morton’s getting our Turkeys ready for your Christmas table; and as the nights draw in I guess some of you will be busy getting ready for your Christmas too.

This got me thinking of what I would suggest for those looking for great foodie christmas presents as a special treat for the food lover in your life, or as the perfect items to make up a Christmas hamper for all the family to enjoy this festive season.

So here are my suggestions for local producers of fine foods that are just perfect for Foodie Christmas Gifts:

Marsh Pig – Norfolk’s Charcuterie of fine Salami

I met Jackie from Marsh Pig Charcuterie at Aldeburgh Food Festival this year and we’re currently in discussions with them about smoking their products in the future.

They hand make their Salami with the finest free-range pork, herbs and spices.

Using the latest technology and a genuine passion they produce some of the finest Salami which I have personally tried.

They are very tasty indeed!

The Gourmet Bacon Company

The Gourmet Bacon Company are award winning bacon curers, who we also met at Aldeburgh Food Festival.

The business is run by Oli Mawson, former butcher from Jimmy’s farm, they are all about producing the finest dry cured bacon from locally sourced, free range, Suffolk pigs; using traditional methods.

Perfect for Christmas breakfast or topping one of our free-range turkeys with.

Suffolk Farmhouse Cheeses

For your Christmas Cheese Board I would heartily recommend Suffolk Farmhouse Cheeses

Jason and Katharine Salisbury use the milk of their own herd of pedigree Guernseys; and produce fine hand-made cheeses, again using traditional methods.

I have sampled their range, all of which tasted exceptionally good – so good, in fact, that we here at Morton’s are hoping to be able to offer their range soon in our on-line shop!

Sutton Hoo Chickens

Finally, as producers of Free-Range poultry ourselves, we know how to spot a tasty chicken.

Charles and Belinda Nash at Sutton Hoo Chickens rear Free-Range and Organic Chickens on their own family run farm, producing an award winning quality of bird.

Again, we like them so much we’re currently in discussions with them about smoking their chickens here at Morton’s Traditional Taste.

Are there any gourmet food producers I’ve left out?

I hope this little list of fantastic food producers has given you ‘Christmas’ Food for thought.

If you think there’s any Norfolk or Suffolk producers I should have included get in touch and let me know!
